Conditions we assess
Pain can start in a joint, tendon or nerve.
Similar symptoms can have different causes. A clinical examination helps identify the likely source before medication, an injection or referral is considered.
Shoulder
Frozen Shoulder
Progressive pain and stiffness that can make lifting the arm, dressing and sleeping uncomfortable.
Shoulder
Rotator Cuff Syndrome
Pain or weakness when lifting the arm, reaching overhead or lying on the affected side.
Elbow
Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow
Outer or inner elbow pain aggravated by gripping, lifting, sport or repetitive activities.
Wrist and hand
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Numbness, tingling, night discomfort or weakness affecting the hand and fingers.
Wrist and thumb
De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis
Pain on the thumb side of the wrist, often made worse by gripping, lifting or thumb movement.
Knee
Knee Osteoarthritis
Joint pain, stiffness, swelling or reduced mobility that may affect walking and daily activity.
Foot and ankle
Ankle Pain
Pain related to a sprain, tendon irritation, repeated loading or another joint or soft-tissue concern.
Finger and thumb
Trigger Finger
Painful clicking, catching or locking when bending or straightening a finger or thumb.
Treatment options
The right care starts with the right assessment.
Your plan is matched to the diagnosis, symptom severity, medical history and daily needs. Not every patient requires imaging, medication or an injection.
01First step
Doctor Consultation
Review how the pain started, daily limitations and previous treatment, followed by a focused movement, strength, joint and nerve examination.

02When appropriate
Medication
Suitable pain relief or anti-inflammatory treatment may be recommended after considering your health conditions, current medicines and individual risks.

Joint & Soft-Tissue Injection
An injection into a selected joint, bursa or tendon sheath may be considered after examination. The doctor will explain expected benefits, limitations, risks and alternatives first.
Check suitabilityGood to know: Injection is not automatic and is not suitable for every condition. MSK ultrasound, X-ray, physiotherapy or specialist referral may be recommended when clinically indicated and available. MSK Pain & Joint Care is not currently offered at Kangar.
Your care pathway
A clear plan from assessment to recovery.
The aim is to understand the source of pain, support safe movement and decide what treatment or referral is most useful for you.
- Step 1Clinical examination
Doctor reviews the pain pattern, movement, strength, sensation, injury history and daily limitations.
- Step 2Personalised treatment
Discuss medication, activity adjustment, support, rehabilitation or injection suitability.
- Step 3Review or referral
Monitor progress and arrange imaging, physiotherapy or specialist review when it may change your care.
Who may benefit
Get assessed when pain is limiting your day.
Pain affecting work, sleep, exercise, walking, gripping or other daily activities.
Stiffness, reduced movement, weakness, tingling or numbness.
Recurring pain or symptoms that are not improving with simple measures.

Get prompt medical review for a hot, red and swollen joint with fever or feeling unwell.
New loss of feeling, marked weakness, or a hand or foot becoming cold or changing colour should be checked urgently.
